Spending my birthday curled up on the couch with my bunneh watching Family Guy. Life is good.

Also, I had to stop last night and take this picture. I've been waiting for this to happen since this place opened. Don't know what that says about me...

Here's the video of my graduation speech if anyone wants to watch it. Be warned, there's some cringe-worthy moments, haha.

Every time I gain a little faith in the human race, The PCAs remind me how astronomically stupid people are. I mean, I'm glad Hugh won his categories, BUT Twilight won favorite movie. Are you shitting me? And as much as I love Johnny Depp, his performance in The Tourist was Razzie-worthy, not favorite actor worthy. Sure, everyone knows the Golden Globes and the Oscars are bought, but at least they're bought by good choices. Argh. /film major rant

I have a sudden and very strong urge to read...well....Wilson/Stacy affair post-infarction fic. Is that so wrong? It might be. But I've been writing in that time period lately and it seems totally possible that Stacy would reach out to Wilson for comfort and then he would be there for her, get emotionally involved, etc. If anyone knows where I may read such a piece, please let me know. I'll be your #1 fan.

Took me long enough, and it's a bit tl;dr but:

Lollapalooza was breathtakingly amazing. Granted, I don’t go to concerts all of the time, but damn, it was like a freaking religious experience. I saw almost every band that I wanted to, got my shoes signed by the members of Stars, Phoenix, and The Antlers, and I just had the time of my life. To better put it in perspective, it was like going to a party where everyone loves and appreciates each band as much as you do. I’m still kind of in awe; I mean these are bands that two years ago I was like, “damn, I love so-and-so, but I’ll probably never get a chance to see them live.”
Brian (my brother) went with me for two of the three days, but we didn’t really hang out much, as he’s a 30 year-old Lolla pro who was content with sitting down 200 yards from the stage, and I, a whippersnapper of 18, was totes in the mosh pit. I had to wear my huge black boot so I wasn’t high off my ass on narcotics all weekend, but it seemed like a small price to pay to see my favorite bands up close.

Hi, this is kind of lame but every month I pick an actor or director and watch all of their movies. I've been doing it for a few years so it's getting hard to keep track. Thus...

This is a vid I started about 4 months ago. I totally forgot about it, and going back to it, I totally forgot what I was trying to do with it. So I'm scrapping it for now so I can start a new vid (I'm not one of those peeps that can have multiple vids going at a time).

So enjoy a whopping 1.5 minutes of "Dramamine" by Modest Mouse.

Everything went swell this morning. I'm not even in a lot of pain, it's more like "wow my cheeks feel 7 sizes too big." I do think I'll take a few Demerol before bed, but mostly I've been managing on ibuprofen and bags of frozen peas on my cheeks. What sucks is that there's all this bloody gunk on my stitches and I have to bite down on tea bags (we ran out of gauze) until it goes away. Waste of tea if you ask me. Anyways, thanks for all the well wishes this morning. Tune in for tomorrow when I get to eat semi-solid food. Spaghettios, fuck yes.

Paris Pics

Paris was...hmm. That is to say that it's beautiful and extremely interesting...but not a place I'll visit again right away. I like to think that people are basically the same everywhere you go, but sometimes it's the little things that make the difference? I dunno, I'm not trying to offend anyone, I just made some assumptions about Paris before I got there:
Assumption #1: Your French doesn't have to be perfect; it's the thought that counts: Not True. I took three years of French, and my comprehension is much better than my pronunciation. I got called an imbecile more times than I could count by cab drivers and hotel desk clerks. And while it might be true, it's not exactly right to call a customer that. I met very few people who spoke any English, which surprised me because it's a huge city. By the time I left my inner monologue was practically in French.
Assumption #2: The deodorant rumor is not true: Not True. I almost passed out whenever I rode the underground...or went inside a crowded building.

Again, it was beautiful and I understood that I was a guest in their city. Just not as hospitable as England or Italy.

ETA that while I'm not "the ugly American," France might hate me because I molest their statues. That I would understand.

So London was freaking awesome. I've already been a few times before, which meant that this trip I could skip most of the real touristy stuff and do what I wanted to do. Highlights were seeing Wicked and Avenue Q, going to the Sherlock Holmes museum, and going on a Jack the Ripper walk. I stayed at the St. Giles, which is at an ace location right next to Oxford St. I have a savings account set aside to spend my junior year abroad, and I'm seriously considering spending it in London. The folks were nice and I always felt safe, even in the East End. I went all the way out to Stepney alone and I never felt uncomfortable. Just a really great city. :)
